Hi... I'm Melia! Smart Me Kid Melia! I am a person with Down syndrome. Down syndrome means that I have challenges with learning. I don't let that get in the way of me learning all that I can, though! I love to learn many different things. I really like reading and math in school, but I also like to sing, dance, act, and cheer! I would like to help children learn when I get older. Maybe I will be a teacher! I have lots of friends. I love them and they love me. My father served in the United States Army, so I got to live in different places and meet different people. I was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, but when my dad was stationed at the Pentagon, near Washington, DC, my family actually lived in the neighboring state of Maryland. I met my forever friend, Sophie, there! I also lived in Florida where I met one of my besties (best friends), Laynie! Our last move before my father retired was back to a different part of North Carolina, near Charlotte. Here is where I met another BFF, Jina, one day at school. My friends are not all girls, though.
