STREW To Help When You Can't.

Strewing is a learning method where parents intentionally place educational resources (books, workbooks, puzzles, etc.) around the house (on coffee table, kitchen counter, nightstand, etc.) for children to discover on their own, fostering an independent and natural curiosity to learn. It is a homeschooling method as well as a form of CONTINUOUS LEARNING outside the classroom.

Catch Up

Problem:  My child is behind and I don't have time to help them all the time.

Solution: STREW -  place math and/or reading materials that are 1 or 2 grade levels behind around the house.  Children might find the work "easy" to do, thus building confidence and a desire to do more.

Stay on Track

Problem: I feel guilty that I can't work with my child more at home.

Solution: STREW - place learning resources around the house that are on grade level.  It is a great way for children to practice, review, and reinforce foundation knowledge at home as they learn it in school.

Early Learners
2-3 years

We know that 90% of a child's brain is developed before age 6. We also know that what a child learns during these formative years is critical to their future development. Unfortunately, many children, especially those with unique learning challenges and disabilities are often delayed in learning from birth. Therefore, it is vitally important that learning start early and remain consistent for these children. Visual input and stimulation helps boost early brain development.

Little Smarties

Pre-K
3-5 years

At this age range, repetition of information is extremely important for most children, and of course, even more so for children with special learning needs.
Using repetition in learning is super important to increase confidence and strengthen connections in the brain that help children learn. Repeating words, concepts, and/or a skill allows children the consistent practice to form understanding and build knowledge.

Super Smarties

Primary
5-11 years

Visual input and stimulation as well as repetition must continue to be a priority for our primary learners, with or without special learning challenges. In addition, what becomes important during the primary years of learning is mastery of foundational skills. Some children might need to go back a grade level or two outside of the classroom environment to fill in gaps by practicing, reviewing and reinforcing previously learned skills. That's continuous learning!
