Choosing the right grade level for practice and review is key to a child's learning. Each level targets specific skills, ensuring children are building and reinforcing strong foundational skills.
Strewing is a learning method where parents intentionally place educational resources (books, workbooks, puzzles, etc) around the house (on coffee table, kitchen counter, nightstand, etc) for children to discover on their own, fostering an independent and natural curiosity to learn.
Catch Up
Problem: My child is behind and I don't have time to help them all the time.
Solution: STREW - place math and/or reading materials that are 1 or 2 grade levels behind around the house. Children might find the work "easy" to do, thus building confidence and a desire to do more.
Stay on Track
Problem: I feel guilty that I can't work with my child more at home.
Solution: STREW - place learning resources around the house that are on grade level. It is a great way for children to practice, review, and reinforce foundation knowledge at home as they learn it in school.
Problem: My child loves to learn. My child wants to learn.
Solution: STREW - place materials that are a grade level above around the house. Children will enjoy the challenge of learning something new.
